In today's world, India faces an important challenge, that is how to maintain its policy while maintaining relations with the major powers. Because India's policy is strategic autonomy, which means India makes foreign policy according to its national interests rather than following one particular state.
India has a strong relation with the United States of America, especially in the sector of defense, technology, and trade. At the same time, India also has a strong relation with Russia in the sector of defense and energy. India cooperates with Russia in different sectors. While the tensions between the United States and China are increasing, India also maintains its relation with China because of the complicated relation with China in the sectors of economy and border dispute.
Russia-Russian war also tested India's strategy and trust, while Western countries imposed sanctions on Russia. India continued purchasing Russian oil and avoided fully supporting either side. India's approach protects its economic and security interests.
Although maintaining the balance is becoming more difficult for India because India faces more pressure from Western countries and India also faces competition with China while maintaining diplomatic ties and cooperation with Russia in different sectors.
India has strategic autonomy without careful diplomacy and strong military strength, because India's future success depends on its balancing diplomacy and international partnership without compromising on its national interest, because strategic autonomy does not mean ignoring cooperation. It means choosing your partners according to your national interest.
