Imagine going to school but finding no teacher in the classroom while your parents struggle with rising prices. Would you be silent or take to the streets?
In October 2026 France witnessed a major protest in which students, ordinary citizens and workers were involved.Show anger over rising living cost and poor education system. Better education, more teachers and better learning opportunities demanded by students. The protest rapidly spread across the country. According to French authorities, approximately 5 lakh people demonstrated on October 17. More people protest peacefully but some groups clash with police and damage public properties.
French prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu understands young people's concern and promises a plan for this issue. Many students remain this satisfied because they want practical efforts not just promises.
France has already witnessed this type of protest before. In 2018 yellow vest movement started with the concerns over fuel pricing but later it became wider and against economic inequality. It shows how one protest that starts with any problem can unite people with different complaints.
The government should talk with students and unions, listen to their demands and make real reforms because protests should be respected but violence should be prevented, dialogue can reduce tensions but people need their efforts before you can trust their government again.
